This is Dickinson County's Largest City and is the County seat. OKOBOJI: (POPULATION - 820)
This Community is bordered by East Lake Okoboji on one side and West Lake Okoboji on the other. Some of the Lakes Areas Finest Homes are in this Community. Brooks Golf Course is a major draw with many Homes and Condominiums surrounding it. The Okoboji Summer Theater is here which is "Summer Stock" for Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. Okoboji offers fine dining, Resorts, Marinas and a real Quality of Life.
ARNOLDS PARK: (POPULATION - 1162)
This is the City of 5 Lakes and our famous "Arnolds Park Amusement Park". It has one of the World's Oldest Wood Roller Coasters and it's on the list to visit! Lots of old character is still around with the Central Emporium where Glen Miller used to play along with many other big bands. You can enjoy the Maritime Museum where lots of the Lakes areas artifacts are preserved. Get on the Queen at the Park and take a ride around West Okoboji and enjoy the beautiful area. The Park is the heart of the activity and night life. Preservation Plaza (formerly known as the Green Space) at the Park has been the stage for Willie Nelson, The Beach Boys, Tiny Tim, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Head East, Everly Brothers, Paul Revere and the Raiders, Bobby Vee and many others.
WEST OKOBOJI CITY: (POPULATION - 432)
The City of West Okoboji's- Terrace Park Beach - was named one of the Top Sand Beaches in the World in USA Today a few year ago. There isn't much commercial property in this city, only in Maywood along old Highway 71. The Taco House is one of the oldest continuous running eating places in the Lakes region and is in this City. Many fine Homes are in this area. They do have a town hall on Pocahontas Point.
MILFORD: (POPULATION - 2474)
This is the Gateway to the Lakes Region and the birth Place of the University of Okoboji at The 3 Sons!! This is a very progressive town which just keeps on growing. They have a Full Main Street and Banks, Industry and housing developments. Milford School combined with Okoboji and Arnolds Park to become known as Okoboji School. They have a great school with good athletics, too. A new Perkins Restaurant opened in Milford in the Spring of 2007!
WAHPETON (POPULATION - 462)
Wahpeton is located on the west side of West Okoboji. It's major attractions are Gull Point State Park, Okoboji Yacht Club, Lakeside Laboratory, 2 Camp Grounds and 3 Church Camps, Fine Dining and many great Lake Front Homes. They have a good quality of life and lots of fish!
LAKE PARK (POPULATION - 1023)
Just 10 minutes west of Spirit Lake is this Charming City that offers a Lake, Industry and a busy little Community where everyone knows your name. You will appreciate their new school. The City has it's own Swimming Pool and have built nice Homes around Silver Lake which is across from the Golf course.
TERRIL (POPULATION - 375)
This nice little Community is the smallest in the County with a good School and a great sports program. It is a bedroom community to the Lakes Region and Spencer, where there is very good house prices. It's a good little community for those who like peace, quiet and very affordable living.
SPENCER (POPULATION 11,317)
Spencer is in Clay County but it is just 15 minutes from the Iowa Great Lakes. It offers "city style" shopping, dining, museums, home of the Clay County Fair. One of the largest county fairs in the United States The progressive attitude of the community is obvious with it's continued industrial expansion and Main Street Program. A recent addition, the Clay County Regional Events Center, hosts a huge variety of activities from concerts to conventions.
